Scorch 2019 - Masterclasses

Every Escape weekender includes lots of classes that are inclusive with your wristband. 

There are also some optional Masterclasses that are maximum capacity, fixed couple workshops designed for more teacher/pupil interaction. There is a range of workshops available that can be booked at The Weather Desk (in the middle main foyer) at a cost of £5 per head.

Saturday 10.45am -11.45am & Sunday 12 -1pm: Me You and The Music Part 1 and 2 with Jamie Eddy (Partnered Masterclasses)

Make every dance different by mastering the art of musicality. This is so much more than knowing the song you are dancing to!

A 2 part workshop. Part 1 is an introduction to musicality for those looking at it for the first time. How to feel the rhythms, respond to the nuances in the music and adapt your dancing to suit any track

Part 2 is a more advanced look into musicality and, connecting with your partner and the music, how you can work together to perform sophisticated techniques to create high level freestyle and performance.

Part 1 suitable for Intermediate dancers and above, Part 2 for Intermediate + dancers and above


Saturday 12pm - 1pm: Flying Low: Baby Aerials with Tony & Hayley Epps (Partnered Masterclass)

These two are aerials masters, and veterans at teaching people how to safely, accurately and stylishly perform impressive, showstopping lifts. Baby Aerials keep both of the ladies feet close to the ground and allow participants to explore being airborne, without the pressure of lifting the lady over the top of the head!

Saturday 1.15pm – 2.15pm & Sunday 5pm – 6pm: Ladies Styling 1 & 2 with Becki Rendell (Solo Masterclass)


With a background in Ceroc, Salsa, Line Dance, Merengue, Zumba & Bachata, Becki has many styles to add variation and the wow factor to her Ceroc dancing. As an experienced Ladies Styling instructor, you can expect this Masterclass to incorporate Top - Toe Basics & Posture, Ceroc Rock Back Step with Latin Style, Spare Arms and Combinations, Shoulders, Hips and Hand Movements.

There is so much to cover in Ladies Styling that 1 hour won't really cut through everything, so at this Camber Becki is teaching part 2. This session covers - Top to Toe Basics & Posture, Spinning & Spotting, Ronde from Spins, Stylish Walks & Solo Footwork Patterns. It is not necessary to complete Ladies Styling 1 to participate in this Masterclass

Saturday 2.30pm-3.30pm: Play Off/Lay Off with James & Jenny Richardson (Partnered Masterclass)

James and Jenny are masters of choreography, innovation and fresh new moves. Play Off/Lay off is a brand new angle on styling Masterclasses that have been taught in the past. Not only will you learn exciting moves with interesting styling options for both the leads and the follows, but you will also discover when it is best to introduce these tips into your freestyle.

A well-executed moment of styling can be a magical moment in your dancing, however performed at the wrong time, it can disrupt the flow of your dance, break connection and maybe even confuse your partner! Expert stylers know exactly what to do to look good, but they also, more importantly, know when to do it. Perfect for couples wishing to compete, or for those who wish to elevate their freestyle to the next level.

Saturday 3.45pm - 4.45pm: Centripetal Force with Lyndsey Bennett (Partnered Masterclass)

Have you ever seen those moves where the lead supports and rotates around the follow, whilst the follow holds a dramatic and elegant position with their body whilst she is turning? If you’re struggling to picture it, imagine a ballerina in a music box smoothly rotating around her axis.
This is Centripetal Force! These show-stopping moves are certain crowd pleasers, but they take a great deal of technique, control and style for both members of the partnership. Once mastered however, you will make jaws drop on any freestyle floor. There is no-one better than ‘Dance Sensei’ Lyndsey Bennett to deliver this Advanced Masterclass.

Saturday 5pm - 6pm: Dance & Nutrition with Natalie Baker (Solo workshop – no booking or fee required)

Dance & Nutrition is an interactive classroom based workshop that explores diet, nutrition, health, fitness and body maintenance, all from the informative perspective of being a dancer.
Participate in fun activities, learn what to eat, how to eat and when to eat to maximise your potential for exercise and activity, with invaluable tips and advice from our resident Nutritionist and Ceroc Teacher Natalie Baker.

10.45am - 11.45am: Magic of Connection with Maja Kocanova (Partnered Masterclass)

Style Queen Maja is perfect for this Masterclass. She knows that styling starts with a strong and unbreakable connection with your partner and with the music. Fine tune your lead and follow skills, strengthen and enhance your connection with your partner and learn how to create beautiful lines and movements in freestyle.
It takes two to Ceroc, so come and absorb the skills that will help you and your partner to compliment each other from the very start of the track, to the final dramatic hold.

Sunday 1.15pm - 2.15pm: Partnered Street with Tim Stevens (Partnered Masterclass)

Oozing with soul, funk, groove and some impressive tricks, street dancer Tim returns to deliver another exciting routine for you to learn. This time however, he looks at how Street styling can compliment your partner dancing. Exploring different body parts independently, Tim will create an unlimited number of unique styling options for your dancing through learning this simple yet dynamic partnered Street routine.
Perfect for those who wish to escalate their dancing to the next level…and a must for anyone wishing to command the judges’ attention during a dance competition.

Sunday 2.30pm - 3.30pm: Illusions with Matt Blain and Victoria Pollard (Partnered Masterclass)

Former Grand Masters and competition royalty, Matt and Victoria know a thing or two about WOW moves. Illusions are intricate moves with fast ‘slight-of-hand’ changes of connection that seem to defy physics. Our teaching team will spend a great deal of time exploring the techniques behind these moves so you can perfect them and introduce them into your freestyle immediately.
Impress your friends, thrill your dance partner, invigorate your move repertoire and become the master of the most exciting moves on the dance circuit.

Sunday 3.45pm - 4.45pm: Drop It Like It’s Hot! with Tony & Hayley (Partnered Masterclass)

Thrillseekers unite! Daring seducers, jaw-dropping dips and the most exhilarating drops, all whilst keeping the lady’s feet firmly on the ground. Adrenaline Junkies Tony and Hayley love to leave their audience in awe, and this Masterclass will give you a biggest and best drops that will be sure to leave the crowd gasping!

6.15pm - 7.15pm: Luscious Lines with Calum Martindale (Partnered Masterclass)

This routine will capture the attention of any audience. Lines can be created in the body using posture, arm styling and leg styling, and maximise your presence on the dance floor. Calum and dance partner Rebecca are choreographers and showcase Gold Medallists, and if you have seen them perform before, you will know their characteristic style is completely captivating. Experiment with new moves, innovative styling tips and find your inner performer. This Masterclass will both elevate your freestyle dancing, and inspire anyone wishing to make more of a statement on the competition floor.
