Event description
Connection is the non-verbal communication system that allows dancers to move as one sending signals each can receive and respond to.
This workshop will explore
Physical Connection (Technique). Frame & movement between partners using compression (push) & tension (pull) to initiate or stop movements.
Musical Connection: Interpret music together with shared timing (moving in synch with same beat or rhythm.) Interpretation; Identifying musical accents (sudden stop, drum beat etc) choosing to express them through movement with individual or shared tiiming
Mental & Emotional Connection: The ‘intangible’ or ‘soft’ skill to in the partnership where each focuses on their partner rather than just the mechanics of the move, Awareness of the feel/energy of the movement between you while learning to share the space and energy
Visual Connection – Touch is first for connection but eye contact and reading a partner’s body language in anticipating moves is crucial for connection

The workshop is 11:00 - 15:00
Cost is £30 per person but couples can book for £55
•Advance booking is required to ensure balanced lead/Follow numbers
Discounts available for those booking as a couple - ask at your local class or via our Facebook groups
Please pop along 15 mins before to register your arrival, grab a hot drink etc.

Travel & Parking information
Their is ample car parking at the village hall
Directions: Fowlmere is in a village between the A10 and A505
From A10 take the Shepreth Road towards Folwmere which turns into Long Lane. You will see houses on your left. Take the left turn onto Chrishall Road. After last house you will see a turning on your left (there will be a village hall sign opposite) - Drive onto the turning and you will arrive at the village hall
If coming from the A505 turn onto Chrishall Road. Drive for approx. 2 miles and just before the first house on left there is turning into the village hall. Drive onto the turning and you will arrive at the village hall

Food & Drink
We will have a break for lunch during the day (approx. 30 mins) so please bring your lunch with you
We will provide Tea/Coffee, squash & water on the day.
What to wear
Whatever you are comfortable in. We suggest layers.
For footwear just avoid trainers as they don’t move very well over dance floors, and please no high heels. Sorry ladies but the venue does not allow them
A change of clothes is always a good idea just in case….. you will be moving around qu
